Lets talk about Nerve impulses. As we most of us know, axons are used to transfer informations, nerve impulses, from other neutrons, organs, or muscles. The are the super highway for these nerve impulses. These impulses do not always travel at a constant speed. Some could travel as slow as 2 mph and some could travel as fast as 250 mph, close to the top speed of a Bugatti veyron. It takes roughly about 70 to 80 milliseconds for the nerve impulses to travel and to register to our brains. So if we touch any part of our body, our forehead, shoulders or toes, we would feel it 80 milliseconds later. Does this mean that what ever we do, we would feel or know it 80 milliseconds later?
With this thought in mind, I aimlessly wondered around Youtube. I then came across a video by Vscause titled, You live in the past. The tittle itself got me asking some question, what do you mean I live in the past? That can't be possible. Out of curiosity, I decided to watch the video. Here's the video so you can watch it too:
This video is quite mind boggling. I know that there's is a lag time for nerve impulses to travel to our brains, but never have I thought of it on our perspective of time. I just think that this is very fascinating.
